2011 Cyber Storm

What: A day-long "hackfest" When: Friday, May 4, 2012 from 9am to 5pm with an intermission from noon to 2:30 Where: The new Tech Pointe Building VIZ Lab at Louisiana Tech University (map) Who's involved: Two teams of students from CSC442/542 (Introduction to Cyber Security), a team of students from CSC404 (Senior Capstone), and other folks from a variety of other institutions Who's invited: Everyone!

A day-long cyber security competition will take place on Friday, May 4, 2012. This "hackfest" will pit two teams (Red vs. Blue) against each other in a fierce battle to defend their networks while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate their opponent's network. Various tasks and challenges scattered throughout the competition will be given by the administrative team (White) to further excite things. White will also confuse and disrupt Red and Blue by similarly attempting to infiltrate their networks. Any interested spectator may join the fun by taking an ephemeral position with White in an attempt to attack Red and Blue; therefore, bringing laptops loaded with the latest and greatest network infiltration tools is invited! Don't forget to bring an Ethernet cable! This year, we will include other teams from a variety of institutions. Spectators can now get involved in attacking Red and Blue (so long as they don't mind getting attacked right back)!

Again this term, we have been working on the infrastructure that will enable the 2012 Cyber Storm. In addition to hardware and network configuration, we are further designing and implementing a number of critical components that will provide challenges and overall situational awareness during the competition. Some of what will be featured during the competition includes:
